Practical advice

Keeping cool this summer

  • Plan exercise, gardening and dog walking for the early morning or evening, when it is usually cooler.
  • Avoid direct sunlight where possible, particularly between 11am and 3pm.
  • Wear suitable clothing, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
  • Apply sunscreen generously and reapply it regularly.
  • Shade or cover windows that receive direct sunlight.
  • Open windows when it is safe and the air outside feels cooler, such as during the evening or overnight.
  • Turn off lights and electrical equipment that are not being used.
  • Consider cooking during cooler parts of the day.
  • Move to a cooler part of your home, particularly for sleeping, where possible.
  • Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and what action to take.

Important: heatstroke is a medical emergency. Call 999 if someone has signs of heatstroke.

Meet Catherine and Tracey

Catherine, Operations Manager
Catherine
Operations Manager

Hi, I'm Catherine and I'm the new operations manager here at Folly Lane. I joined the practice in March after 20 years of management in retail. In that time, I'd worked in fashion and supermarkets but always managed a team. I’ve always enjoyed work with people. Coaching, developing, supporting and building a really strong foundation to achieve what we need too.

Out of work I live in Liverpool with my daughter. We enjoy spending lots of time with family and friends and love singing and dancing together.

My working days are Monday to Friday, so when you are next at the practice if you see me about, please say hi.

Tracey, Reception Team Leader
Tracey
Reception Team Leader

My name is Tracey, and I joined Folly Lane at the beginning of June as the Reception Team Leader.

I have worked within NHS Community Services for the past 23 years and have always enjoyed patient-facing roles. I love that no two days are ever the same, with each day bringing new challenges, opportunities, and achievements.

Outside of work, I live in Warrington with my partner, two of my three grown-up children, and our two Labradors, Cooper and Dougie. So far, only my daughter has successfully flown the nest!

You'll find me on Reception Monday to Friday. I'm excited to be part of the Folly Lane team and look forward to meeting our patients.
